A myth says that entrepreneurship is all about breakthrough ideas, innovative thinking and God’s grace. One must never measure success at the initial stage. Although there is no universal way of measuring it, but, being an entrepreneur, one gets successful not by the balance that gets credited in their banks at the end of the day, but by the number of lives that they are able to change through their product or service. The way to pay your debts back is by helping people and hoping that they help more people further. Entrepreneurs draw so much from the society and community that we live in, so they must think about ways to help more people.
Honesty and integrity is also a beneficial factor when it comes to the success of an entrepreneur. Everybody has a conscience and very few people listen to it. Whenever you hear a faint voice, telling you that you’re actions or your words shouldn’t be performed or said the way you are currently doing it, listen to that voice. A great strategy can do wonders for your startup, but your strategy won’t make you win the game or battle, the way you tackle situations is what decides the future of your company. Flexibility is another factor that must be kept in mind. Adapting to changes and new innovations is one of most ignored factor.
Everybody gets their own ideas in situations of trouble or concern. You must not consider yourself to be superior to the people you work with, yes, you have authority over them, but they might have better ideas which would prove beneficial for your own startup. Moreover, learn to rely on your team. Find the smartest people to work for your startup who can nurture your strengths and furnish your core skills. It’s true that people tend to like those who are similar to them, but try to find someone who isn’t like you and is good at what he does – perhaps, what you can’t do!
And as Mr. Lee Iacocca said, “The most successful businessman is the man who holds onto the old just as long as it is good, and grabs the new just as soon as it is better.”
